MYP9 Food Design

During Grade 9, students take part in a variety of projects based on designing food products. Below you will see examples of students work from various projects. The first project was based on students researching world festivals and then creating a cake decoration based on their chosen festival. The decorations were made from cake fondant. Please click on the images below to see them close up. This project was led by Jen York.

A new project for 2019 is the ISGR POWER BAR. The cereal bar (also known as a granola bar) is a popular healthy snack that students can have in between classes. However, most bars have nuts and sesame seeds, which are prohibited in school due to allergies. Students were tasked with developing a tasty, healthy bar that it is nut and sesame free and easy to make at home. The students also designed a label and created a recipe card with instructions of how to make your own ISGR POWER BAR. This project will be led by Jen York.

This project involved designing a structure using gingerbread. The gingerbread was prepared and baked by the students. This project was led by Lydia Regalado.
